4 ways to improve your sales process with design 🎨

Everyone knows that public speaking can be a daunting task. There's the detailed preparation over cups of coffee, the sleepless night before wondering if there are going to be questions you can’t answer and the sweaty palms as you join the Zoom call. I have a solution that will take away the worry... Since working with my business coach, I've realised how structure can give us all the confidence we need to 'do the thing' that scares us the most.

When it comes to public speaking (whether that is to one person or a stadium of people) our confidence can come from our materials being top notch. So, today we're taking a deep dive into the tools that can help us sell our products and services all whilst taking the stress of pitching your business away.

PITCHING DECK

A pitching deck is a formalised presentation document that runs through specific areas that cater to showcasing your business as a whole, a specific product or service. The content is created and handed over to the graphic designer who will curated the layout of each page to match the content type as 'sell' in the goal per page.

  • A pre-made document to fall back on within the sales process

  • On-brand, and bespoke design to showcase specific information

  • Saves time pulling the same kind of information together, over and over

  • Can be updated when necessary

MEDIA KIT OR ABOUT US

A media kit can be sent out to other businesses or prospective clients in order to give a bit more context to your business. It includes information on services, best selling products and can include a bit of a bio on the founder or owners. A media kit flourishes when there are metric to back up the features and benefits to working with your business, as well as social proof like testimonials or case studies. Essentially, the job of a media kit or about us document should give the reasons a client should work with you - or better yet, all the reasons they can't live without you!

  • Summary of your business that does the selling without you there

  • Can be sent far and wide; no 1:1 required, although recommended

  • Could be printed as well as digitised

BRAND BOOK

Your brand book can be both internal and external facing. It would contain all the information you need to communicate your brand, and is perfect for sharing with new starters or third party suppliers like photographers, copywriters and graphic designers. The brand book formalises the large and small details that make you different from your competitors. It may included your brand strategy, as well as your visual identity, tones of voice and art direction specifics.

  • One-stop shop for all things on brand

  • Acts as a reference and information document

  • Can be updated as you grow

  • Aids consistency and cohesion - adding strength to your branding

ONBOARDING & OFFBOARDING DOCUMENT

When clients book, you might find yourself repeating the same speech over and over - these documents help your clients by giving all the information they may need upfront. In turn, this smooths out your process by keeping them informed, making things that bit more efficient.

  • Answer frequently asked questions with a few clicks

  • Get all clients up to speed with your business and how the process will work

  • Keeps you in front of mind for the future - because working with you was so seamless!

  • Leave them with a reference document

PRESENTATION TEMPLATE

For me, this one is the Queen. A presentation template will help you in more ways than one. It's obviously perfect for building out presentations (internal and external!) that are on-brand and easy to create. I also have clients that use their presentation documents to build online courses, video opening and closing slides, tone of voice documents, sales proposals and much more. The opportunities are huge when you have up to 60 slides of pre-designed slides just waiting for your imagery and copy to bring them to life. Here's another secret - they can offer a framework to build all of the previous documents on this page if you fancy having a go at building them in-house!

  • Multi-purpose use - from sales to video

  • Easy to use with all branding ready to copy and paste internally

  • A plethora of pages that can communicate just about any situation

  • Returns on your investment just on time to build alone, let alone the great impression it makes on clients...it shows how much attention you pay to the details and quality of your products or service.

As I mentioned, with great tools and materials comes great confidence. Taking the stress away from communicating your business to others will mean better presentations, more confident staff, clients who have more confidence in you and ultimately more sales through making a great impression.
